IDA WORLD DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015

Mistrzostwa Świata DJ-ów IDA to nie tylko najbardziej prestiżowe zawody dj-skie w Polsce, ale przede wszystkim najciekawsze tego typu zmagania na świecie. Od kilku lat, wraz z nadejściem grudnia, Kraków przekształca się na jedną noc w światową stolice turntablismu. Zawodnicy ze wszystkich zakątków globu walczą o tytuł Mistrza Świata dj-ów w dwóch kategoriach: Show oraz Technical. W tym roku mistrzowie gramofonów spotkają się w Krakowie po raz dziewiąty. Tegoroczną areną zmagań będzie jedno z najbardziej prestiżowych miejsc w Polsce – ICE Kraków Congress Centre. W sali audytoryjnej oprócz emocjonujących zawodów zobaczymy pokazy gwiazd dj'skich oraz koncerty najpopularniejszych artystów w kraju. Wszystko to przy najlepszej akustyce i starannie dobranych wizualizacjach. Organizatorzy przygotowali z tej okazji line up wyjątkowych artystów. Pierwszą potwierdzoną gwiazdą imprezy jest ikona sceny dj'skiej, czterokrotny Mistrz Świata DMC, współzałożyciel Invisibl Scratch Piklz, twórca kultowego filmu „Wave Twisters” - Dj Qbert (USA)
Pozostałe gwiazdy imprezy zostaną ogłoszone w pierwszych tygodniach października.

IDA World Dj Championships have firmly established themselves as the most interesting DJ competition in the world. This year our event moves to the prestigious location ICE Krakow Congress Centre. This venue allows for a unique way of showcasing turntablism: the competitors are filmed from multiple angles and the footage is displayed on
the huge screen, allowing the crowd to see every detail of each
performance.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE IDA WORLD FINALS 2015
Each year, more than 30 turntablists from across the World come to Kraków to battle for the acclaimed IDA World DJ Championship titles in two categories.

The Technical Category
This is a category for solo competitors, focused on the essentials of classic turntablism: juggling and scratching. While DVS like Serato and Traktor are allowed, they are limited to the most basic of features (i.e. regular playback in absolute mode - no hot cues, loops, effects or samplers) to level the playing
field for the sake of DJs competing using regular vinyl only.

During eliminations, all DJs must present a 3-minute routine. Out of those, four are selected to advance to the semifinals which consist of two 2-minute rounds. The winners advance to the finals where they have to perform a 6-minute routine each, while the losers battle each other for third place (also two 2-minute rounds).

The Show Category
This is a category for both solo competitors and teams, focused on creating a complex musical performance with turntablism at the core. At least one turntable must be used - everything else is up to the performers. DVS and all their features (hot cues, loops, effects, samplers) are allowed. So are MIDI controllers, drum computers, external effects units and other instruments. In
this category, there are no qualifying rounds or eliminations, just one 6 minute performance. The main judging criteria are musicality and creativity - a successful Show Category set should resemble a song more than a classic turntablism routine.
