Zuzanna Janin zajmuje się rzeźbą, instalacją, filmem, wideo, fotografią, akcjami i działaniami performatywnymi. Należy do grona najważniejszych przedstawicielek sztuki polskiej po 1989 roku.

Wystawa w Galerii Labirynt obejmuje najnowsze realizacje artystki. Oprócz tych, które miały już swoją premierę zobaczymy prace powstałe w ciągu ostatnich miesięcy - takie jak tytułowe "Siedem tańców", "Shame" czy "Lost Butterfly".

"Zuzanna Janin zdaje sobie sprawę, że nie istnieje inne spojrzenie niż wyrastające z własnej, osobistej historii. Zajmuje ją pamięć jako tajemniczy przekaz, płynący z głębin czasu, rzeka opływająca nasze świadome czyny i myśli, ale kształtująca także to, nad czym się nie zastanawiamy, odruchowe reakcje, punkty odniesienia, wartości. Poprzez obrazy, dźwięki, formy, przekazuje opowieści. Nie są to opowieści linearne, lecz niepełne, zapętlające się, z bocznymi nurtami i odnogami. Bywają zamglone, niewyraźne, kształtowane także obcymi przekazami, czasem dokumentami, historiami fikcyjnymi, lecz posiadającymi dozę prawdopodobieństwa." (Magdalena Ujma)

Zuzanna Janin has been dealing with sculpture, installation, video and performative activities. The common thread of all her works is her consistent artistic mindset and persistence in following the values she considers vital.

The exhibition in Lublin shows artist’s works from recent years. Part of them has been exhibited before, but is here presented among numerous premier works, the latter of which play a major role. All of them dwell on themes which the artist has been dealing with for years and are their continuation or play upon them in a creative manner.

Zuzanna Janin is aware that there is no other perspective but the one which stems from one’s own private history. She is interested in memory as a secret message from the depths of time, a river flowing over our conscious activities and thoughts, but at the same time also shaping all the things which we do not think about, our automatic and instinctive reactions, points of reference, values. Through images, sounds, forms she passes on stories. These are not linear, but incomplete, overlooping ones with side currents and subplots. They tend to appear as misty and vague, shaped partly by strangers’ testimonies, sometimes documents or made-up stories which however do posses a dose of probability. (Magdalena Ujma)
